Our stay at The Serene House has been an unparalleled relaxing experience. From the spectacular views, and breathtaking fauna to just lying in the hammock at night stargazing and listening to the wonderful melody of The rainforest and the Coqui(national animal and native to Puerto Rico). The owners are the most attentive host we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting, always going out of their way to ensure our experience was pleasant, comfortable and unique. Can't express how wonderful our stay at the Serene House was—photos don't do it justice! The rooms and common areas had thoughtful and modern touches, and the saltwater pool was heavenly. We were truly immersed in nature while only a couple minutes' drive from plenty of activities.

Pablo was such an incredibly hospitable host—he legitimately cares about your stay, providing all the information and guidance you need to maximize your time in the area. My stay here far exceeded my expectations. It was so peaceful & restorative. I spent most of my time during my three nights enjoying the hammock & the view during the day & the stars and the sounds of the forest at night. Also worth noting: the B&B is just off the main highway and getting to the beaches and El Yunque was very easy, even at night. On top of all that, Maribel and Paulo were wonderful hosts. They quickly and easily made me feel like I was staying with friends. Ask them for their local restaurant recommendations. And I recommend taking the private yoga lesson from Maribel. Paulo's breakfasts were also a highlight every morning!

We came home recently with such wonderful memories of our stay at Serene House. Whether it was the delicious breakfasts and dinners prepared by co-owner Pablo or the wonderfully welcoming atmosphere of the whole setup: comfy rooms and casitas, a real flair for simple but very comfortable spots to sit - on the balcony looking out over the pool, in the little library, in comfy chairs, or admiring the art collectibles, the home was clean and an expression of local detail and decor. The guest rooms were plenty big and the beds comfortable. Given the good humor and big smiles of the owners (and often their close relatives), it really felt like home. We were a group of friends (four couples), and we all loved this relaxed and fun spot, near beautiful beaches and good restaurants.

Maribel and Pablo have a very special bed and breakfast. They welcome you warmly with their hospitality. The Serene House is located very close to El Yunque rainforest and Luquillo beach. It is nicely decorated with fresh a Bohemian decor. The salt water pool is refreshing. We stayed in Casita 0709. It has a comfortable bed with A/C and ceiling fan. The room has doors leading to breathtaking views of the mountain landscape and ocean in the distance. You will be lulled to sleep each night by the sounds of the coquis. Maribel and Pablo gave us several great recommendations for eating and things to do. The breakfast options were excellent and made proudly by Pablo. He even squeezes fresh orange juice every morning. We stayed for 5 nights and would happily return in the future. Book your room today! You won’t be disappointed.

The casitas here offer the best of two worlds. If you want a private and remote setting with breathtaking views and a sense of seclusion, then this is for you. At the same time, just a stone throws away in the main house, a gourmet breakfast is served also with its own stunning views are to be had. The Serene House exceeded our expectations! From the moment we arrived, Pablo and Maribel treated us like old friends and put us at ease. We were looking for a peaceful retreat, and that’s exactly what we found. The setting on top of a hill overlooking the ocean is breathtaking. Beautiful landscaping, birds, sounds of nature, a saltwater pool, comfortable seating inside and out, open windows to let the breeze in, thoughtful decor, a library, and so much more make it a welcoming sanctuary that is difficult to leave. The breakfasts each morning are the best we’ve ever had. Pablo and Maribel work hard to make sure you are having an incredible experience, and they are a wealth of knowledge, making recommendations for meals and activities if you so desire.

We stayed in one of the casitas. It was clean, roomy, comfortable, and quiet. There was a hammock and seating outside to enjoy the views, as well as a table and two chairs inside.

I cannot say enough good things about the house and the hosts. We hope to be lucky enough to visit again someday!

This place is perfection! The decor, the pool, the heavenly shower with lots of pressure and hot water, the amazing, magical breakfast on the balcony cooked by Pablo (who must secretly be a 5 star chef). Even the coffee was excellent and I'm a coffee snob. The property is gorgeous-set on a lush hill and perfectly far away from any neighbors. It's a good location - about an hour from San Juan between El Yunque Rainforest and the beach. We stayed in a large, spotlessly clean room in the main house with cool art and doors that opened onto the pool. Up the hill behind the house are 4 cabinas with more privacy, great views & hammocks. These are also beautifully & functionally decorated in a modern but still cozy and warm way. It's a good spot for friends, couples or families. They opened recently and I wish them much success! Pablo and Maribel have created a special place - we loved it! Hoping to get back there someday.

My girlfriend and I stayed at The Serene House for 3 days during our 7 day trip in Puerto Rico - and it was everything we could've dream of AND more. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that Pablo and Maribel have put their personal touch on everything included in our experience; breakfast, the room decor, the architecture of the house (and casitas) and even the shampoos, lotions, etc. in the rooms. They offered excellent recommendations on things to do locally and helped us book an unforgettable day trip through El Yunque with their friend who leads personal or small group tours. A few more things...

- The room was put together so nicely and was incredibly clean

- The main house has so much tranquility to offer (we sat for a few hours, sipped coffee and read in the nook)

- The property and pool are stunning, fun to walk around and explore a bit and perfect for a day and nighttime reading or relaxation session.

- Location is perfect for feeling secluded and off the grid while being able to hit a wonderful restaurant, bar or beach within 5 - 7 mins drive.

While we were here as a couple, we would 100% go back with friends as well.

We can go on and on, but in short - Pablo and Maribel are outstanding people who truly feel like friends while they host you and we will undoubtedly be back for another stay and will be recommending The Serene House to all our friends, family and folks interested in experiencing it.

The Serene House, located high on a hill with a view down to the ocean, is precisely what its name suggests. It is small, quiet, and comfortable, and it offers a saltwater swimming pool. Pablo, the owner and host, immediately becomes an unobtrusive friend, ready with pertinent recommendations. Our room had its own private patio; the bed was very comfortable, and the waterfall shower was great.

Pablo cooks and serves a fabulous, generous, and delicious breakfast. There is always a beautiful fruit salad followed by two hot choices, one savory (e.g., avocado toast or an omelet), the other sweet (e.g., soufflé pancakes or French toast).

Staying at the Serene House was quite possibly the best hotel experience I've ever had. With Pablo, we felt like guests at a friend's beautiful home but with impeccable service and great food. The location is nestled in the jungle and feels very secluded but within a 10-15 minute drive of great beaches and restaurants and about 20 minutes from El Yunque National Forest recreation area. We stayed in the poolside room which had a lovely view and direct access to the lovely pool. Pablo went above and beyond to make our stay memorable and the daily breakfast on the upper deck was magical. He knows the area well and so was able to offer great advice on beaches, restaurants, and more. The property itself is well designed and we felt truly at home during our four night stay.

💫Our best stay ever; I wish I could give 12/10 stars!💫

Wow, where do we even start?! The Serene house is quite possibly heaven on Puerto Rico. We are already planning to return in the near future!

The location: is perfect, not too far of a drive from the SJU airport (we rented a car), and nearby there are so many things to see and do: El Yunque, bio bay, Luquillo, Fajardo, Ceiba ferries, or the many local beaches. Do not hesitate to book your stay here!

Details wise on site: first and foremost, the hosts Pablo & Maribel are unbelievably creative, personable, thoughtful and incredibly gracious. Their distinct attention to detail is noticeable in all aspects of their operations. The recommendations they gave us to local dining spots were also spot on and very much appreciated (Sama was our favorite!) The breakfast Pablo prepares in the beautiful on site kitchen adjacent to the main common area is fresh, delicious and foodie-esque; where the dining area also showcases an unforgettable view toward the coast.

The rest of the property continues up the hill (steep yet navigable on foot for most) from the main building and there is a peaceful, relaxing and grounding aura throughout. The casitas are designed with I would describe as an eco industrial modern concept, with simple yet functional decor, and all are meticulously well landscaped. We stayed in one of the two king bed casitas at the top of the property, and that is where the views are the best on site 😍. The beds are extremely comfortable, this coming from someone with multiple lower back disc issues.

Surroundings: The property and buildings were extremely clean and felt very safe. It was incredibly relaxing to fall asleep to the faint sound of the coquis (frogs)! This was a truly unforgettable experience. 💖

I stayed with my mom in the garden room for three nights but I should have booked this place for our entire trip! Pablo and Maribel went above and beyond to make our stay the dreamiest getaway. You’re nestled in the foothills of the rainforest just outside of El Yunque with ocean views and VERY close to everything (restaurants, beaches, shopping, etc.). Not only was their property absolutely stunning, they are so genuinely kind and made you feel like family. They provided us with the best recommendations for the area and Chef Pablo crafted the most delicious 5 star breakfasts each morning. The saltwater pool was also a 10 out of 10. This is by far the most wonderful place I've stayed in Puerto Rico, or maybe anywhere! The hosts Maribel and Pablo have put so much love and care into each detail, from the design of the 4 brand new casitas they built on the hill to the excellent pillows and mattresses on the beds. We loved swinging in the hammock, gazing at the sea in the distance, and listening to the birds and coquis. You're basically IN the rainforest when you stay here. The salt water pool is...heaven. Maribel and Pablo are the friendliest, most generous and helpful hosts. They gave us tips on restaurants and driving directions, and even loaned us a backpack cooler for our hikes. I'm sure you'll read about Pablo's terrific breakfasts, cooked fresh every morning, but I'd also like to add that this beautiful place, already energy efficient, will be energy independent in the future.
