About The Serene House
The concept for The Serene House originated during one of our many visits to our beloved Puerto Rico.
Having fallen in love with the northeast of the island, we wanted to share this jewel with others, and using Maribel’s 35 year experience in the hospitality industry we decided to build an intimate bed and breakfast.
So, once back in the US we got to work, took our ideas and ran with them. When we finally came across this property what sold it to us was the amount of space, beautiful views and surroundings of nature - the fact that it was somewhere where you could really relax and unwind.
This tranquility of the surroundings made The Serene House an easy name to pick for our place and this is the atmosphere we aim to evoke for our guests.
The decor and architecture of The Serene House was inspired by a variety of influences. We have seamlessly incorporated modern Mediterranean-style architecture with touches from our travels to India, creating a minimal, yet eclectic and bohemian style.
After almost a year of renovation we were able to transform the property from an old church and community center to our peaceful and intimate B&B.
About us
We were both born in Puerto Rico but met in Florida in the 90s and have had a wonderful partnership ever since, sharing two children, two grandchildren, and our two dogs Lola and Boots.
Maribel has had an extensive career in the hospitality industry, starting as front of house in the early years through to general manager, and now, corporate director of finance.
Pablo’s professional experience has been in sales and marketing, and was most recently the Florida region coatings manager for a major distributor in the woodworking industry.
Maribel is also a certified Kundalini Yoga instructor, so in her free time enjoys yoga, meditation and generally staying active.
Pablo enjoys working with his hands, whether it’s getting creative in the kitchen, preparing meals for friends and family, or building a piece of furniture out of wood.
Our interests and passions weave their way into our work here at The Serene House, Pablo designs the menu and cooks of all the breakfasts, and Maribel offers yoga classes to guests during their stay.
We look forward to meeting our guests and sharing what our beautiful Puerto Rico has to offer.
The Serene House information
We are delighted to have you visit us at The Serene House. We are an adult only B&B (16+). In order to maintain our serene and peaceful environment, we do not allow parties and/or loud music on the compound.
We welcome guests to book out the whole space for special events and celebrations such as weddings.
We promise to serve you the freshest ingredients during your stay, and to abide by this promise we require booking a minimum of 48 hours in advance, no same day bookings are possible. The minimum length stay is two nights.
The Serene House is completely secure with a passcode protected gate, so you can feel safe and secure during your stay.
A 50% deposit will be charged upon completion of your reservation.
Cancelation policy
A one-night stay cancelation fee will be charged to all cancelations 14 days prior to arrival. Within 14 days of your reservation 50% of the full value of your reservation will be charged. There will be no refunds for early departures. We understand natural events may happen in the tropics; in such cases we ask you contact our office to make proper arrangements.
